Voice of the Water
These photographs represent the story of a river and the physical and spiritual connection of one place to another. My love for the medium of water is tied to a desire to capture its elemental spirit, its ethereal and mercurial nature and its beauty in form, power movement and texture. They follow the source of the River Forth high on the summit of Ben Lomond and its journey east through to the Firth of Forth in Fife, Scotland. Is that a voice I hear in this lonely place where sound goes unheard? It is the voice of the water, it speaks in a forgotten tongue, a voice we once knew. The language is lost - times immense passing. The land is shaped, the course deepened. The veins of the world it’s lifeblood, ever flowing. © Martin Gibb 2019
